Kapil's grandmother, Shantimayee Acharya, crashes into dialysis with over 80% kidney damage. Her doctor's words: “count your days” — marking the beginning of a long and difficult battle against kidney disease

- 2015Advocacy
Following his grandmother's passing while waiting for a transplant — not because an organ didn't exist, but because the system failed to find one in time — Kapil begins volunteering and raising awareness for kidney disease

Kapil becomes a political advocate with the National Kidney Foundation, working to reform kidney policy and improve patient outcomes

Kapil begins kidney disease research, applying computational methods to improve outcomes across AKI, CKD, and PKD
- 2023Advocacy
Through advocacy with the National Kidney Foundation, Kapil helps advance the OPTN Modernization Act, opening transplant infrastructure to innovation
